Community Calendar - Virginia Senate District 30

Tim stood for election to the Virginia Senate from District 30 to be the kind of candidate that he would want to elect.

That meant making only one promise: to uphold the Constitutions of the United States, and of Virginia as revised in 1971.

After that, everything else emanates from fundamental principles like life, liberty and justice.

  • Life is about more than just having a job. It’s about having a purpose, both individually and as a state.

  • Freedom is about creating an environment in which people are free to find and live their purposes.

  • Justice includes living up to our promises to those who have embraced our ideals of freedom.

Related Committee Preferences:

These are extraordinary times. And we face an extraordinary challenge. Our strength as well as our convictions have imposed upon this nation the role of leader in freedom's cause.

No role in history could be more difficult or more important. We stand for freedom. That is our conviction for ourselves—that is our only commitment to others. No friend, no neutral and no adversary should think otherwise. We are not against any man—or any nation—or any system—except as it is hostile to freedom. Nor am I here to present a new military doctrine, bearing any one name or aimed at any one area. I am here to promote the freedom doctrine.

The same is true today:

  • These are extraordinary times.
  • We stand for freedom.
We face an extraordinary challenge, and we are called to be a leader in freedom's cause. As President Kennedy concluded, “our greatest asset in this struggle is the American people” and their willingness “to practice democracy at home, in all States, with all races, to respect each other and to protect the Constitutional rights of all citizens.”

This campaign is about spreading freedom and democracy in the 30th Senate District of Virginia. As President Reagan said, "Now, I would appeal to you to invigorate democracy in your own neighborhoods."

In these challenging times it would be most helpful to have people at the leadership table who are willing to put all options on the table and listen to each other.

President Kennedy's words came during a time in which their “first and basic task” was to “turn recession into recovery.” In that same speech he also said, “I stress the strength of our economy because it is essential to the strength of our nation.”

The U.S. economy is like a tree. The gross domestic product is the part that everyone sees.

  • The tallest of trees generally have the deepest of roots.
  • The roots are where the tree gets watered.
The strongest and most enduring of economies are those most deeply rooted in their fundamental principles.
